Fall of 08, First week

My first real semester at ASU started this last monday. I say real because I had a summer class but...........that didnt really count. Ok, so I am taking the shuttle from ASU west to main campus which saves me loads on gas and only takes around 30-40 minutes, however the main drawback is having to get there 25-30 minutes before the bus is to leave or else you'll be among the 20-25 people standing in the aisle. No joke! I got there the other day 25 minutes early and was in the middle of the "first to get on mob" and got a set at the very back of the bus. The day after I was running late and hurred to the bus before this girl that arrived around the same time I did and we both got on and only one other person behind her and the doors shut. A disabled person came and everyone that was standing had to get off because some people were filling the space that is saved for a wheel chair. So he got on and all the aisle people pushed and shoved back in and the girl that got on with me didn't make it on the second time, the doors shut and there was nothing that could be done after. I felt so bad for her because she was on the first time. I didnt want to look through the glass into her eyes, I felt like I was one of the last people to get a life raft off of the titanic. But what I hear is that after the two week mark people drop classes and get fed up with the bus system thus alliviating space on the bus. Or so I hope.
The classes I am in so far are a breeze and not to mention that my laptop makes taking and organizing notes a breeze, it even makes it more enjoyable to study. Though I didn't know that all of this would give me extra work. Because my notes are so nice and complete a freind or two are kicking back in class and have me email them the notes, I think I am going to start charging.
I also have an update on my internship.....I got it!!!!! Today was my third day in my internship. I am under a CCC-SLP that graduated 2 years ago from ASU and knows my teachers and at least one remembers her. So, I am the one giving the therapy to the kids and she takes notes, like the therapy notes on the children. (Look its Mister Robert, thats what the kids call me at school)

At the end of the semester Ill have my Speech Language Therapy Assistant certification and I will be able to give therapy with out supervision. I am stoked about what is going on in my life and the potential of my future.

Im back

So I have been told that I am in desperate need to update my blog, and my stereotypical answer was "I dont have time" and that would still be my answer if I hadn't got my new laptop. My laptop makes it possible to update my blog where ever I want. I really dont know if getting a new laptop is worth having to update my blog more frequent, but whatever. Oh the laptop that I am reffering to is my new 6 cell MSI Wind that just came in the mail 2 days ago.
Anyway, so has everyone seen my hot new wifes new hair style? I know you all (especially women) have to respond "I love it" when asked but honestly tell me what you all think so in 2 months when she wears me down and I finally say its ok if she wants to go back I have a rebuttle that at least my make her think twice about the decision she is embarking on because once she goes back to her hair color rut she will never leave it again. Oh, btw, she dyed it because I have been telling her that I wanted her too. I was at home doing something and she walked in and I had to look twice at the stranger that had walked into my home. It was a nice surprises.
So I talked about my new laptop, my wifes new due......what else has happened....... Oh, we got a new T.V.! We had a flat screen 42' plasma that we were borrowing from my in laws while the were in between houses living at Becky's parents home. Well the inevitable day arrived when we moved them into their house and they took our T.V. So we logically had to buy another one right? LOL, at least that is the logic we used. School is starting monday, and today I went into the school district to sign the hire on papers, so its official. For everyone that doesn't know I landed a paid Speech Assistnant internship and after this semester Ill be a certified SLPA (Speech Language Pathologist Assistant) Only thing pending is the 100 hours I will accumulate the first semester and I have to send in my college credits that pertain to my degree and if, after this semester, I have 20 or more hours Ill receive my certificate, which really just means a pay increase of anywhere from 2-7 dollars an hour depening on the district I work for. All this is so that I will, with my GPA I'm planning on getting, Ill be a shoe in when it comes time to apply for my masters degree. Ill have 6 months to a 1 year internship, and 1 year of paid experience being an SLPA ontop of my what then will be 4 years of working with kids. So all of my teachers say that my plan will look really good on a resume.
You know what is probably the latest and greatest event that is happening today? Its moms BIRTHDAY!! Happy Birthday mom!!!
